Alpina ramps up power for BMW 3 Series and 4 Series to 529 HP

Alpina has introduced new GT versions of the B3 and B4 models for BMW buyers who are looking for a more sophisticated package with M-like performance. These new versions add 34 horsepower to the already potent twin-turbocharged inline-six engine, bringing the total output to 529 horsepower and 538 pound-feet of torque. This puts them in direct competition with the full-fat M Competition models, making it a tough decision for buyers to choose between the two. For those who prefer fast BMWs with long roofs, the Alpina B3 GT and B4 GT could be the answer.

The Alpina B3 GT is available in sedan or wagon trim, based on the 3 Series platform rather than the M3. This means you get the smaller grille in front, which might appeal to those who don’t like the larger grille found on the M3 Competition models. With 529 horsepower, the B3 GT is a worthy competitor to the M3 Competition. The wagon version in green with Alpina’s signature wheels is particularly easy on the eyes. On the other hand, the B4 GT brings the same power in Gran Coupe format for those who prefer the larger grille option.

The power increase in the B3 and B4 GT models comes from revised engine mapping, providing Competition-level power under the hood. The B3 GT sedan can accelerate from zero to 62 mph in just 3.4 seconds, a slight improvement over the standard model. The B3 GT Touring and B4 GT Gran Coupe achieve the same acceleration in 3.5 seconds. All models come with all-wheel drive and a ZF eight-speed automatic transmission. Visually, the GT models feature small canards and a splitter up front, as well as a redesigned diffuser at the back, finished in black to match the new exhaust tips.

The Alpina B3 and B4 GT models are not available in North America, remaining exclusive to Europe. Deliveries are set to begin in November, with pricing starting at 101,700 Euro for the B3 sedan, 102,900 for the Touring, and 105,100 for the Gran Coupe. Both the exterior and interior of the GT models feature Alpina badging, with the interior showcasing the iconic Oro Tecnico script. While visually similar to other Alpina models, the GT versions offer a unique and powerful driving experience for those looking for M-like performance in a more sophisticated package.
