A recent string of strong-arm robberies across Manhattan has left police searching for a suspect responsible for nearly a dozen incidents in the last two weeks. The robber, who targets businesses and pedestrians, has committed nine robberies or attempted robberies between May 19-28. The suspect has used a Citi Bike as a mode of transportation in some incidents, threatening victims with a simulated firearm and demanding money. Surveillance photos have been released in connection with the incidents, and the police are urging anyone with information to come forward.

The crime spree began on May 19 when the suspect approached a pedestrian and demanded his credit card while claiming to have a firearm. The victim managed to escape without losing any possessions. The suspect then proceeded to rob a deli later that morning, stealing $200 from the register before fleeing on a Citi Bike. Subsequent incidents involved the suspect simulating a firearm to steal money from victims in various locations across Manhattan. In one instance, the suspect targeted a 24-hour Dunkin’ Donuts for $250 and a pedestrian for $35.

Businesses have also fallen victim to the robber, with an employee at Diamond News being held at gunpoint and forced to hand over $200. Despite threats to shoot victims if they did not comply, no injuries have been reported in any of the incidents. The suspect continues to evade capture, with the most recent incident occurring on May 28 when he attempted to rob a business but was unsuccessful in opening the register. Police are urging the public to provide any information that may lead to the suspect’s apprehension.

The NYPD Crime Stoppers hotline can be reached at 1-800-577-TIPS (8477) for anyone with information on the suspect. Confidential tips can also be submitted through their website or via DM on Twitter. The police are working to ensure the safety of residents and businesses in Manhattan by apprehending the suspect responsible for the series of strong-arm robberies. The suspect’s use of a Citi Bike as a means of escape adds to the difficulty of tracking him down, but the police are dedicated to bringing him to justice and putting an end to the crime spree that has plagued the city in recent weeks.
