General Motors is expanding its lineup of electric vehicles with the introduction of the Cadillac Optiq, a smaller sibling to the Cadillac Lyriq powered by Ultium technology. The Optiq is approximately the same size as the Equinox EV, sharing its 85.0-kilowatt-hour battery pack yet offering several upgrades over its Chevy counterpart. With standard all-wheel drive and Super Cruise driver assist, as well as 300 horsepower and 300 miles of range, the Optiq surpasses the Equinox EV in performance. Both models can also charge at the same 150-kilowatt DC fast-charging speed, with similar torque figures.

Visually, the Cadillac Optiq stands out with its unique design inspired by the larger Lyriq. The exterior features Cadillac’s signature vertical lighting elements at the front and a rear design reminiscent of the Escalade IQ. The interior of the Optiq offers a luxurious experience, incorporating sustainable materials such as 100 percent recycled yarn and a 50/50 mix of newspaper and tulip wood for wood accents. The large 33.0-inch diagonal display adds to the premium feel of the cabin.

The Cadillac Optiq sets itself apart with a range of standard features, including Super Cruise, making it the first Cadillac vehicle to offer this hands-free driving system as standard. The decision to only offer all-wheel drive as the drivetrain option adds value to the vehicle, distinguishing it from competitors like the Equinox EV. Additionally, the Optiq comes equipped with a 19-speaker sound system as standard, enhancing the overall driving experience. The starting price for the Optiq is estimated at $54,000, making it an attractive option for consumers looking for a luxury electric crossover.

Production of the Cadillac Optiq is set to begin later in the fall, with vehicles expected to arrive at dealerships shortly after. With its combination of advanced technology, luxurious interior, and competitive pricing, the Optiq is poised to be a strong contender in the electric vehicle market. The Cadillac Optiq offers a compelling package that delivers on performance, convenience, and sustainability, making it a standout option for consumers seeking a premium electric vehicle. As GM continues to expand its electric vehicle lineup, the Optiq represents a significant step forward in the brand’s commitment to innovation and sustainability.
