Cardano gets ready for the Voltaire era with the launch of Node 9.0.

Cardano, the popular blockchain platform founded by Charles Hoskinson, is gearing up for a major upgrade with the upcoming release of Cardano Node 9.0 in June. This release will prepare the platform for the Chang hard fork, which marks the beginning of the Voltaire Age. Hoskinson has indicated that once 70 percent of the SPOs install the new node, a hard fork will occur, pushing Cardano into a new era of decentralized governance.

The Chang hard fork is expected to be a significant milestone in Cardano’s roadmap, moving the blockchain towards a decentralized civilization with advanced governance systems, annual budgets, a treasury, and community input in decision-making processes. Hoskinson envisions a future where Cardano becomes a decentralized global community with millions of residents, guided by the wisdom of the entire community.

The Voltaire Age will introduce a governance system that allows the community to participate in decision-making processes through decentralized voting mechanisms. This new era will be implemented in two phases, with the first phase focusing on governance features as per CIP 1694, setting the stage for decentralized voting. The second phase will advance these features to enable proxy participation and treasury withdrawals, allowing the community to propose and fund projects within the Cardano ecosystem.

In preparation for the Chang hard fork, Cardano has already launched node version 8.9.2, which addresses a critical issue in the peer-sharing networking feature, enhancing the platform’s peer-to-peer networking capabilities. This upgrade is crucial in ensuring a smooth transition to the upcoming Voltaire Age and the implementation of decentralized governance mechanisms on the Cardano platform.

With the upcoming major upgrade and the transition to the Voltaire Age, Cardano’s native token, ADA, could potentially benefit from increased adoption and utility. At the time of writing, ADA is trading at $0.441 and is ranked among the top ten cryptocurrencies by market capitalization, according to CoinGecko’s data. As Cardano continues to evolve and implement innovative governance mechanisms, ADA holders and enthusiasts can look forward to a more decentralized and community-driven platform in the near future.

Overall, Cardano’s roadmap towards the Voltaire Age and the upcoming Chang hard fork signify a new chapter in the platform’s journey towards decentralized governance and community participation. With the release of Cardano Node 9.0 in June and the subsequent implementation of governance features, Cardano is on track to become a leading blockchain platform with advanced governance systems and community-driven decision-making processes. Exciting times lie ahead for Cardano and its growing community as they move towards a more decentralized and inclusive future.
