English-made gin from honey sourced in England now available in the US after worldwide spirit distributor acquisition

Silent Pool Gin, a popular brand in England known for its locally sourced honey-infused gin, is making its way to U.S. markets after being acquired by global spirits distributor William Grant & Sons. Crafted with 24 botanicals and honey sourced directly from the distillery’s backyard apiary, Silent Pool Gin draws inspiration from the historical Silent Pool, a spring-fed lake steeped in mystery. The brand unveiled its first bottles in 2015 and has since gained popularity in the U.S. market.

Paul Basford, president and managing director of William Grant & Sons, sees Silent Pool Gin as a perfect addition to the company’s portfolio, which includes well-known brands like Hendrick’s and Glenfiddich. The acquisition of Silent Pool in 2023 aligns with the company’s mission to expand its offerings globally. With an ultra-premium price point of $59.99, Silent Pool Gin is positioned as a high-quality spirit that undergoes four stages of distillation and unique infusion processes, including the addition of locally sourced honey.

Silent Pool Gin stands out from its competitors with its artisanal distillation process, which includes the addition of honey during the final stages of production to enhance flavor and texture. The gin’s 24 botanicals are carefully infused at different stages and temperatures to create a complex and rich flavor profile. The brand also offers a black juniper variant gin in the U.K., with plans to introduce it to the U.S. market in the future.

Despite the name, Silent Pool Gin does not contain water from the Silent Pool itself, as the lake is too small to sustain the production quantity. Instead, the brand uses locally sourced water to maintain authenticity and sustainability. Basford emphasizes that the botanicals used in the gin are sourced locally, adding a unique story and connection to the brand. The distinctive packaging of the gin, featuring symbols of the village of Albury and small perfume bottles with aroma fillers, adds to the brand’s appeal and charm.

With Americans drinking less alcohol overall, the introduction of high-quality, artisanal spirits like Silent Pool Gin provides consumers with a premium option in the market. The brand’s commitment to quality, sustainability, and unique flavors sets it apart from traditional gins and appeals to consumers looking for a luxurious and distinctive drinking experience. As Silent Pool Gin expands its presence in the U.S., it aims to introduce more consumers to its premium offerings and establish itself as a top choice in the competitive spirits market.
