Tenant sought for ‘spacious den room,’ the listing says

An East York resident is trying to rent out a mattress squished in the middle of their living room for $800 a month.

The Kijiji ad has had almost 2,000 views in the last month.

“I’ve a spacious den room which is ready to be moved in effective September 1st, 2022. I’ll prefer someone who wants to occupy this den room for a longer period. Also, I’m looking for an individual who is quite, clean & respects others living in the apartment. No low ballers and looking for serious inquiries only,” the ad says.

While the ad says den, it also says the unit is 600 square feet, which is typically a one bedroom apartment so the mattress is in the living room.

The mattress rental comes with all utilities included and amenities include an elevator.

The unit is not pet friendly and is non-smoking.

The Toronto Sun has reached out to the person who placed the ad, but has not heard back.

The average rental property rate in Toronto has risen 24% year over year, according to a recent study by Rentals.ca.

It also says that the average one bedroom apartment in the city in July was $2,257.
