‘Ted’ Peacock Series Trailer Sees Foul-Mouthed Teddy Bear Headed to High School

Peacock has dropped the first full trailer for the upcoming “Ted” series.

In the trailer, Ted (Seth MacFarlane) is dismayed when it is decided he will be forced to attend high school with his best friend John (Max Burkholder). Ted decides to help John catch up with his classmates in all things, including sex and drugs.

It was previously announced that the seven-episode event series, which serves as a prequel to the two “Ted” films, will debut on Peacock on Jan. 11.

The first episode is described as “supersized,” while the remaining six are 30 minutes each. Set in 1993, the series begins as “Ted the bear’s moment of fame has passed,” per the official description. “He’s now living back home in Framingham, Massachusetts with his best friend, 16-year-old John Bennett, along with John’s parents, Matty and Susan (Scott Grimes and Alanna Ubach) and cousin Blaire (Giorgia Whigham). Ted may be a lousy influence on John, but at the end of the day, he’s a loyal pal who’s always willing to go out on a limb for friendship.”

MacFarlane serves as writer, executive producer, co-showrunner, and director on the series in addition to starring. Paul Corrigan and Brad Walsh also serve as co-showrunners and executive producers. Erica Huggins, Alana Kleiman, Jason Clark, and Aimee Carlson of Fuzzy Door Productions also executive produce. The series is produced by UCP, Fuzzy Door, and MRC.

The first “Ted” movie was released in 2012. It proved to be a major box office hit, grossing nearly $550 million on a budget of $65 million. A sequel was released in 2015, grossing over $215 million. Both films were produced by Universal Pictures and MRC Films.
