Waste Connections acquisition of C&D recycler continues Massachusetts expansion

Waste Connections recently acquired Trojan Recycling, a Massachusetts roll-off hauler and C&D transfer station operator, according to multiple sources.

According to Trojan’s website, the company has been in business for more than 20 years. It operates out of Brockton, a city south of Boston, in Plymouth County. State corporate records and a recent job posting indicate the transaction was finalized in November.

Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection records state Trojan’s facility can handle up to 500 tons per day. Trojan says it can recycle “clean wood, all metals, cardboard, asphalt, brick, concrete, organic yard waste (brush, leaves, stumps), clean gypsum and more” via processing at the site. Trojan’s site states that it will deliver roll-off containers to “much of Southeastern Massachusetts” but not Cape Cod or Boston. 

The transaction is the latest of multiple acquisitions by Waste Connections in this region of Massachusetts as part of a broader expansion in the state that was boosted by its 2021 acquisition of E.L. Harvey & Sons. Earlier this year, it completed the sizable acquisition of ABC Disposal Service and affiliated businesses. Since then, Waste Connections also acquired Nauset Disposal and Republic Services’ Cape Cod assets.
