Matty Healy Caught off Guard by Taylor Swift’s “Tortured Poets Department” and Conflicted About Singer Targeting Him on Album Following Short Relationship

Matty Healy, 35, was ‘completely blindsided’ by his ex Taylor Swift’s The Tortured Poets Department after the singer targeted him in some tracks on the record-breaking 11th studio album. The 1975 frontman and the Grammy winner briefly dated last year from April until their split in June. A close friend of Matty opened up, revealing that he still has mixed feelings regarding Swift’s LP, which dropped on April 19. The source mentioned that the lyrical content of the songs had left Matty feeling blindsided.

In one of the tracks titled Loml, Taylor references marriage and children, mentioning topics that had never come up in their relationship. The insider explained that Matty is taking it all in stride despite the unexpected lyrical content. Swift also appeared to target her brief fling with Matty in the song Fortnight, which seemed to occur after her split from ex Joe Alwyn. Despite the end of their romance being amicable, Swift referenced their time together in a few tracks on her album. Matty broke his silence in April when asked about his opinion on the album, stating that he hadn’t listened to much of it, but he was sure it was good.

After Taylor’s LP was released, Matty reportedly felt relief and said he couldn’t be happier with the outcome of the album. A source mentioned that Matty still thinks highly of Taylor but was nervous about what she might have said on the album. He also felt anxious about how he might be portrayed in the songs. Swift had notified Matty ahead of time about the contents of the album, which he appreciated, as he was worried that their story might be told in a negative light. Despite initial nervousness, he is happy to be able to move on with less anxiety.

Currently, Taylor is on the international trek of her Eras Tour, performing all over the world. Her boyfriend Travis Kelce has been supporting her during her tour stops, with the NFL player joining her in Paris alongside other celebrities. The tour is scheduled to continue throughout the UK and Europe before concluding in Vancouver in December. Despite the attention brought by Taylor’s album, Matty is working on moving on from the situation and avoiding any negative impacts on his public image.
