Bodycam footage shows cops taking out Nashville shooter Audrey Hale

Nashville Police have this morning released bodycam footage from yesterday’s school shooting which left six people dead, including three nine-year-old children, showing the moment two police officers took out trans shooter Audrey Hale.

Hale opened fire in The Covenant School, a small, church-run private elementary school on the outskirts of the city, shortly before 10.13am.

She was armed with two rifles and a handgun, and had planned the killing meticulously. By 10.27am, she was dead, having been struck down by Officers Rex Englebert and Michael Collazo.

The footage shows how the officers strategically checked classrooms looking for the shooter before finding her on a second floor atrium, firing in their direction as part of her suicide-by-cop plan.

She was no match for Officer Englebert, a 27-year-old, four-year veteran of the force who struck her down immediately with four shots from his semi-automatic weapon.

Officer Collazo, a nine-year veteran of the force, approached with a handgun next, firing another four shots while Hale flailed on the ground, before approaching her body and stripping it of weapons.

As Hale remained armed and moving, officer Michael Collazo approached her armed only with a handgun. Less than three minutes after Collazo and Engelbert entered the school, Hale had been neutralized

Officer Rex Engelbert bravely ran towards Hale's gunfire and took the shooter down with a volley of precision shots from his rifle

Englebert bounds up the stairs ¿ seemingly two or three at a time. More gunshots and he mutters a curse under his breath. He and the other officers turn a corner. Hale is there and it's over in seconds.

After shooting her dead, the officers approached Hale. Her weapons are clearly shown, along with what appears to be an armored vest

From their arrival at the school at around 10.22am, it took the officers five minutes to find Hale and kill her.

By then, she had already managed to murder three nine-year-old children and three staff members.

When they arrived at the scene, a woman standing outside the school directed the officers on where to go.

A panicked male staff member was seen leaning on a tree. He handed Englebert the key he needed to gain access to the school, which Hale had accessed by shooting through the glass panes of another door.

The transgender shooter – who was born female but often went by ‘Aiden’ and used ‘he/him’ pronouns – harbored a ‘resentment’ about having to attend the school as a child herself.

She shot and killed head teacher Katherine Koonce in the hallway in an ‘assassination’ style killing, in addition to shooting church custodian Mike Hill and substitute teacher Cynthia Peak.

Hale also murdered three nine-year-old students; Hallie Scruggs, William Kinney and Evelyn Dieckhaus.

It’s unclear whether she targeted those children or their class.

Before driving to the school, she messaged a friend on Instagram telling them: ‘I’m planning to die today. THIS IS NOT A JOKE!!!

‘You’ll probably hear about me on the news after I die.

‘This is my last goodbye. I love you. ‘See you again in another life.’

‘Audrey (Aiden)’.

The killer’s family is yet to speak publicly. In her message to a friend earlier in the day, she told them her parents had no idea about what she was planning.

In addition to the three weapons found at the scene, another two rifles were taken from her home.

It’s unclear whether they were also registered to Hale, who had ‘high functioning’ autism, according to police sources.

Despite the danger, Englebert and Collazo immediately exited their cars, grabbed their weapons, and ran into the school. Each was flanked by at least four other officers. 'Let's go. I need three,' yells Englebert, using a key to open the doors.
