Internet pirates blackmail Ferrari!

The Italian sports car manufacturer informed its customers on Monday evening that it was being blackmailed by hackers. This emerges from an email to customers that BILD has received. The hackers demand ransom for customer data.

“After receiving such a claim, we immediately launched an investigation in collaboration with a leading global cybersecurity company. In addition, we have informed the relevant authorities and are confident that they will do everything in their power to conduct the investigation.

The letter begins with the words: “Dear Ferrarista”

Ferrari clarifies: “We will not accept ransom demands as agreeing to such demands would fund criminal activity and allow perpetrators to continue their attacks. Believing that the best course of action is to notify our customers of the potential compromise to their data and the nature of the incident.”

The attack, Ferrari continues, “has no impact on our company’s business.”

There were rumors in October last year that the cyber gang “RansomEXX” had hacked Ferrari and put data online. There was talk of seven gigabytes of confidential documents.

Ferrari later denied such an attack.
