Monika Haaf (57) from Nustrow near Rostock finds it difficult to speak. Shamefully, she usually puts her hand in front of her mouth, because teeth are missing at the top and bottom. The curious reason: her dog Layco (4 months) ate her teeth. Be careful, “bitchy” dog!
The loss of the two partial prostheses was a chain of unfortunate circumstances: the pensioner (unable to work) had put her third one in a can in the bathroom on the washing machine to be cleaned.
When she later switched it on and the device began to shake, the Labrador Husky mix became aware of the container.
“He probably took the can down with his paws and ate the dentures,” says Monika Haaf. From the living room, she heard the can fall and looked. “The teeth were gone by then.”

“I then gave him a lot of food so that he excreted my teeth as quickly as possible,” says the pensioner. The next evening the first part came to light again, after three days everything was out again.
“I cleaned and boiled them. But they are broken, ”said the Mecklenburg native. “When I told my dentist the story, he just laughed out loud.”
It is still unclear who will bear the costs for the new teeth (around 1800 euros). “My doctor submitted this to the health insurance company as a case of hardship.”
Dog expert Stephanie Lang von Langen (46): “It is quite possible that dogs swallow objects of this size. The lady was lucky because such sharp-edged things can also get stuck in the intestines.” Her tip: feed them sauerkraut! It can wrap itself around the swallowed object and help transport it away.
