TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) — If you’re like me, you’ve probably noticed a chirping sound coming from your phone while scrolling on the app.

According to Dataconomy, the new sound is part of a new update to make the mobile experience more engaging.

It’s not a particularly obtrusive feature of the app, but it might not be everyone’s taste to hear a chirping sound while trying to check up on your friends and family.

Now, it’s quite simple to fix it, but it depends on what is happening on your account.

If your app is working normally, follow these steps:

  1. Click on the bottom right icon of your app, which should open up your menu.
  2. Scroll down to Settings and after that, open Settings and Privacy.
  3. Under Preferences, click on Media and then turn off in-app sound at the top of the following menu. This should not affect video sound.

Now, some people have reported a bug in which this method and the in-app sound turns back on by itself.

“This glitch has been happening to me too and it was driving me crazy,” one Reddit user said. “I tried deleting the app, logging out, turning my phone off. Nothing worked.”

If all else fails, put your phone on silent. That should work too.
