Berlin – Messe boss Martin Ecknig (around 500,000 euros annual salary) has to go. On Wednesday evening, the supervisory board of the state company decided to terminate Ecknig’s contract – without giving reasons.

You could already read about it on “Business Insider” in the afternoon: Employment lawyers are said to have certified Ecknig’s numerous misconduct and violations of guidelines. Including an expensive consulting contract with the husband of the fired RBB director Patricia Schlesinger.

The lawyers recommended Ecknig’s immediate release. After a special meeting of the Presidential Committee of the fair, Ecknig was no longer in the office on Tuesday. For the time being, Dirk Hoffmann, head of trade fair finance, will take over his post.

Trade fair spokesman Emanuel Höger explained to BILD that Ecknig had to leave the company without severance pay.
