Saarbrücken: raid with 40 officials: tax investigators pick up pizza bakers

Saarbrucken – Large-scale operation at a pizza baker (56) in the city: around 40 tax investigators and police officers worked during the night at least two places searched – Tax Raid!

They are also said to have appeared at the Italian’s private residence. Evidence such as electronic storage media, cash registers and bookkeeping were secured.

According to the “Saarbrücker Zeitung”, the investigators suspect that the restaurateur uses a “double checkout system” in his restaurants, with part of it going into a “black box”. Inspector of the tax office had apparently checked the tills and placed test orders over the past few months.

The suspect is no stranger to the police: in 2020 he was brought before the district court was sentenced to two years in prison for tax evasion and was also fined 300,000 euros to settle claims. The probationary period has not yet expired.
