Trainer duel in the Bremen Cup final: Ex-Werder striker against “hero of the street”

Who can dream of the big lot?

In the Bremen state cup final (Sat., 12.15 p.m., Vinnenweg), Oberneuland and Aumund-Vegesack are fighting for a DFB cup ticket. There is also a coaching duel between ex-Werder striker Sören Seidel (50) and a “hero of the street”, Markus Werle (51).

Seidel played on the Weser from 1997 to 2000 and won the DFB Cup in 1999. Werle became his former colleague in 2011 because of his courageous intervention in a bus accident Werder-U11 honored as “Hero of the Street”.

For Aumund-Vegesack it is the first participation in the final in ten years. At that time, too, the opponent was called Oberneuland. The SAV has fond memories of the last duel, qualified for the 2013 thanks to a 4-0 win DFB Cup.

Also this season, the Werle team won both games against champions Oberneuland (4:1, 3:0) in the fifth-rate Bremen league. Nevertheless, Werle sees his troops as outsiders.

The coach to BILD: “I like to push the role of favorites to the master. Oberneuland definitely has the better individual players. We deservedly won both games, but Oberneuland have more consistency. That’s why I hope that we can build on the two performances from the league.”

Oberneuland doesn’t want to know anything about the favorite role. Seidel to BILD: “There are no favourites, the chances are 50:50.”

In the final of the Lower Saxony Cup between Delmenhorst and Osnabrück (Sat., 2.15 p.m.) it is about much less. Both have already been confirmed as participants in the DFB Cup. Because yourself Osnabrück qualified for the cup by coming third in the third division, Delmenhorst has the right to start in the DFB Cup for the state cup winner.

The participants should be looking forward to the draw for the first round of the DFB Cup (June 18) with great excitement.
