Report: Cowboys’ Micah Parsons willing to join Mike Tomlin and Steelers later in his career if he leaves Dallas

The Dallas Cowboys have been relatively quiet in the offseason, aside from drafting eight players, including offensive lineman Tyler Guyton in the first round. The front office is now faced with the task of deciding how to keep key players like three-time Pro Bowler Micah Parsons on the roster long-term. Parsons, considered a pillar of the defense, could potentially demand a historic salary in the future. The 2021 first-round draft pick has the potential to become the highest-paid non-quarterback in NFL history, a title currently held by Minnesota Vikings star Justin Jefferson.

While there are no immediate indications that Parsons is looking to leave the Cowboys, the possibility remains that he could consider other options in the future. Born in Pennsylvania and having played college football at Penn State, Parsons has stated that if he were to leave Dallas, he would be interested in joining the Pittsburgh Steelers. His respect for Steelers coach Mike Tomlin could potentially lead him to Pittsburgh, where he could play alongside TJ Watt.

In addition to Parsons, the Cowboys also face uncertainty regarding the future of quarterback Dak Prescott. Prescott is entering the final season of his contract with the team, with his future beyond 2024 up in the air. The quarterback had a strong season last year, earning MVP votes and leading the league in touchdown passes. Dallas must also focus on re-signing wide receiver CeeDee Lamb, who is in the final year of his contract. Parsons could become a free agent after the 2025 season, so decisions must be made regarding his future as well.

Overall, the Cowboys front office is tasked with making crucial decisions in the coming seasons, including determining the long-term futures of key players like Micah Parsons and Dak Prescott. While Parsons could potentially become the highest-paid non-quarterback in NFL history, the team must also focus on re-signing other important players like CeeDee Lamb. With the franchise aiming to solidify their roster for sustained success, the upcoming seasons will be crucial for the Cowboys’ future in the league.
