Chelsea star’s Barcelona move agreed but held up by Jules Kounde register issue

MARCOS ALONSO’S move to Barcelona is being held up because the Spaniards haven’t registered new signing Jules Kounde yet, reports suggest.

The Chelsea left-back is poised to sign a three-year deal with the LaLiga side.

Alonso agreed personal terms with Barca four months ago, according to Fabrizio Romano.

The Blues look set to bank around £6million for the 31-year-old.

Alonso has not been in Thomas Tuchel’s matchday squads for either of Chelsea’s opening two games to the campaign, after the Blues boss confirmed he was on the way out.

But Romano claims his move will not officially go through until Barcelona have registered £55million summer signing Kounde.

The financial woes at the Camp Nou mean Barca have had to sell off millions of pounds worth of assets in order to register their new players.

Robert Lewandowski, Raphinha, Franck Kessie and Andreas Christensen have now all been successfully registered with LaLiga.

But Kounde is still waiting for his documents to go through.

The Frenchman will only be able to play competitive games for the club when Barca reduce their wage bill, according to the BBC.

That in turn will see Alonso able to sign for the club.

There is no clear timeframe on what that might be, although Romano says the process “takes time”.

But with the transfer window slamming shut in exactly two weeks, time is beginning to run out for Barca.

Reports suggest they are willing to let right-back Sergino Dest leave, while the club are also desperate to part ways with the likes of Martin Braithwaite and Samuel Umtiti.

Elsewhere the Frenkie de Jong transfer saga continues to rumble on.

But if Manchester United or Chelsea do succeed in signing the Dutchman, it will free up space at Barcelina to register Kounde and subsequently sign Alonso.
