Dalot reveals ‘killing machine’ that is affecting Man Utd after poor start

DIOGO DALOT admits the stick Manchester United have suffered from fans and ex-players has felt like a “killing machine.”

Old Trafford legends Gary Neville, Roy Keane and Peter Schmeichel all criticised Erik ten Hag’s team after United lost four of their opening six matches for the first time since 1986.

Supporters also turned on manager Ten Hag after he subbed £64million striker Rasmus Hojland during the 3-1 home defeat to Brighton.

But after Saturday’s 1-0 victory at Burnley, Red Devils right-back Dalot admitted: “We are playing for Man United. We have to be consistent in every game because they will kill you in every direction if you don’t win games.

“And you could see this last couple of weeks, it was another normal killing machine against us, but we fought hard.

“This win was massively important. We needed it after these last couple of games when we conceded a lot of goals and this has to build a foundation for the next game.”

Schmeichel blasted the players’ mentality in their 4-3 Champions League defeat to Bayern Munich, Keane questioned their “desire and mentality,” while Neville also slammed the Glazers’ ownership.

But Dalot told MUTV: “We showed a proper compact team, aggressively defending the box, everybody supporting each other.

“Collectively we were very good. Everybody was speaking with each other, communication, aggressive on the front foot.

“And that brings you confidence when you look to your mate and he’s giving everything for you.

“You want to give everything for him as well and at Burnley we came out to the pitch with that mentality.

“This is the standard  we need to have for the rest of the season.”
