Man Utd ‘already negotiating Neves move as Barcelona pull plug on deal’

MANCHESTER UNITED are “already negotiating” a transfer for Ruben Neves as Barcelona pull out of the race for the Wolves star, according to reports.

The midfielder has long been linked with the Premier League’s biggest clubs after consistently impressing at Molineux.

Neves arrived in the midlands from Porto in 2017 and is close approaching his 250th appearance for the club.

But with the 26-year-old out of contact at the end of next season, Wolves now face a dilemma of whether to cash in on the star in the summer or potentially let him go for free a year later.

Fichajes claim Man United are already making quick progress to land their long term target.

The Red Devils are reported to be in talks already for Neves with the summer transfer window fast approaching.

In a further boost for the club, the Spanish outlet claim that Barcelona are no longer interested in the Portuguese international.

Xavi is reported to think the star does not fit the Catalan giant’s “profile” despite reports often linking him with a Nou Camp switch.

The Spanish side are believed to be looking for a player to sit in front of the defence, possibly as a replacement for club legend Sergio Busquets who could leave at the end of the season.

But Neves has often played in a slightly more advance role for Wolves, which has often seen him score amazing goals on his voyages forward.

United manager Erik ten Hag has already done plenty of business to revamp his midfield.

Scott McTominay and Fred have gone from regular starters under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer to bench players this season as high quality recruitments took their place.

Five times Champions League winner Casemiro was brought in last summer alongside former Tottenham star Christian Eriksen.

An injury to the Dane in January saw United enter the market again to bring in Marcel Sabitzer on loan from Bayern Munich.
