Bissouma will be fine

Graham Potter does not feel Yves Bissouma will be affected by the talk surrounding his future.

Aston Villa are said to be interested in making a £40million move for the Brighton midfielder, who is currently away with Mali at the African Cup of Nations.

Bissouma, 25, has only 18 months left on his contract so Albion may feel this window is where they could cash at the highest price, if he does not sign a new deal.

Yet Seagulls boss Potter remains “confident” his key man will still be at the Amex come next month and does not see his head being turned by the speculation.

He said: “I think players at this level, and Yves is the same, know that there is speculation, things in newspapers, etc, so it’s part of what they have to deal with.

“They also know they have to focus on their football and what they’re doing, and let all the other stuff take care of itself.

“I’m confident (of keeping him), I think he’s enjoying his football here.

“But as I said before, with the transfer window, you never know.

“We have to adapt to anything, which we have done, and plan for something for something you can’t necessarily foresee. We’re in a good place but we’ll see.”
