POLK COUNTY, Fla. (WFLA) — A woman was found dead in her vehicle following a wrong-way crash in Poinciana on Wednesday morning, according to the Polk County Sheriff’s Office.

Around 6:12 a.m., deputies and Polk Fire Rescue responded to the intersection of Cypress Parkway and Lake Marion Creek Road regarding a two-vehicle crash.

Officials said a 42-year-old Kissimmee woman, in a gray 2013 Toyota Camry, was traveling west on Cypress Parkway when she crossed the center line and entered the eastbound lanes.

At the same time, a 54-year-old Haines City man, in a gray 2011 Toyota Camry, was traveling east on the same road.

The man attempted to swerve to avoid the wrong-way driver, but the two vehicles collided.

The woman was pronounced dead in her car, and the man was taken to a nearby hospital with serious, but non-life-threatening injuries.
