The Naturally Aspirated Caterham Seven Has Ceased Production.

After a successful 10-year production run, the iconic Caterham Seven 485 is finally coming to an end. The brand recently announced the release of a pair of special Final Edition models for the European market, marking the end of an era for the naturally aspirated power of the Seven roadster. Only 85 units will be produced, with 60 of them being 458 Final Editions and the remaining 25 being 485 CSRs. Both versions are equipped with a Ford Duratec 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine that delivers 225 horsepower and 151 pound-feet of torque. This powerful engine is mated to a five-speed manual gearbox and a limited-slip differential, allowing the 485 to sprint from 0 to 62 miles per hour in just 4.1 seconds and reach a top speed of 139 mph.

The 485 Final Edition is available in standard and large chassis options, while the 485 CSR is exclusively offered in the larger size with inboard front suspension. The CSR model is approximately seven inches longer, nine inches wider, and one inch taller than the standard 485, providing a more spacious and comfortable driving experience. Both models come with different wheel sizes, with the Final Edition featuring 13-inch black alloy wheels and the CSR showcasing 15-inch wheels. Toyo Proxes R888R tires are wrapped around these wheels, covering the ventilated front disc brakes. The Final Edition models are available in five premium colors, each adorned with satin black stripes and black badges. The interior is luxuriously appointed with fully carpeted flooring, a carbon dashboard, and unique number plates. Final Edition branding is present throughout the cabin, including the embroidered details on the black leather, Alcantara, and Sport Hex black seats.

Enthusiasts can now place their orders for the 485 Final Edition models, with pricing starting at €67,495 ($72,810). However, this doesn’t mark the end of Caterham’s journey. The brand has hinted at an electrified future, with a production version of its Project V concept in the works. Olivier Jouanne, the company’s European Territory Manager, describes the 485 as an opportunity to “own the last highest-revving, naturally aspirated Seven to ever be produced.” This limited edition model is sure to attract collectors and driving enthusiasts alike, offering a unique blend of power, performance, and timeless design. As Caterham bids farewell to the 485, it looks towards a future of innovation and sustainability in the automotive industry.
