Shares of maintenance and repair firm HD Hyundai Marine Solution had a strong debut on Wednesday, nearly doubling in value in their trading debut. The South Korea-based company’s shares traded as high as 166,100 South Korean won, a 99.1% increase from the IPO price of 83,400 won. The stock closed at 163,900 won, a 96.52% gain. The parent conglomerate, HD Hyundai Group, maintained a 62% stake in the unit ahead of the IPO and will continue to be in control, according to HD Hyundai officials cited by The Wall Street Journal. KKR, the second-largest shareholder since 2021 with a 38% stake, plans to gradually reduce its ownership in the company.
